What Is Ascend Scholar?

Ascend Scholar is an AI-powered scholarship discovery and essay coaching platform designed for high school and college students. Our mission is to help first-generation and low-income students find and apply for scholarships they might otherwise never discover. The platform may be used by students under 13 with verified parental consent.

What Information We Collect from Children

For users under 13, we collect only the information necessary to provide the service:

• Grade level
• GPA (grade point average)
• State of residence
• Academic interests and extracurricular activities
• Personal story responses used to generate essay drafts

We do not collect a child's full name, phone number, or physical address. We do not require more information than is necessary to use the platform.

How This Information Is Used

Information collected from children is used solely for scholarship matching and essay coaching within the platform. We do not use children's data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the direct delivery of the Ascend Scholar service.

No Third-Party Marketing Sharing

We do not share children's personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is shared only with our infrastructure providers (Supabase, Anthropic API for AI processing, Sentry for error monitoring) strictly as needed to operate the service.

Your Parental Rights

As a parent or guardian, you have the following rights regarding your child's data:

• Review your child's data: Email hello@ascendscholar.co to request a copy of the information we have collected.
• Request deletion: Email hello@ascendscholar.co with the subject line "Child Data Deletion"and your child's registered email address. We will delete all associated data and confirm within 30 days.
• Withdraw consent: Email hello@ascendscholar.co at any time to withdraw consent and close your child's account.
